OMG....

A Boulder County woman got an unfortunate lesson in police brutality recently and the video of it looks like something out of 1930s Germany. After attempting to exercise her rights not to incriminate herself, she found out the hard way police will not only taser you when you’re in handcuffs, but they’ll taser you when you’re completely restrained. Lauren Gotthelf filed a federal civil rights lawsuit Tuesday against several officers and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

A man whose bid to become a police officer was rejected after he scored too high on an intelligence test has lost an appeal in his federal lawsuit against the city.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York upheld a lower court’s decision that the city did not discriminate against Robert Jordan because the same standards were applied to everyone who took the test.

The individual cops, the police dept. and the county should be sued and the cops prosecuted. How the fuck is that legal in any civilized country?

An Arizona cop acquitted of murder in 2017 for killing a man crawling on his knees, begging for his life, in a hotel hallway, was temporarily rehired by the city he worked for so that he could claim a disability pension and file for a medical retirement that will pay him more than $2,500 a month for the rest of his life.

Former Mesa Police Officer Philip Mitchell Brailsford drew national attention and outrage in December 2017 when a jury found him not guilty of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Daniel Shaver. Brailsford shot Shaver in a confrontation in a hotel hallway in 2016 after police were called there by somebody who had seen Shaver holding a gun in his room.

Philip Mitchell Brailsford, 28, is now retired from the force with a tax-free pension worth $31,000 a year for life — and his attorney confirmed Friday that the settlement was a result of him suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder due to the shooting involving Daniel Shaver of Texas.

Five fucking shots from an AR style rifle.

The bastard should be in jail right now.
The Mo Fo has it made!

Brailsford was involved in the fatal shooting of Shaver on Jan. 18, 2016, and was fired two months later. His trial began in late 2017, lasting six weeks before he was acquitted of a second-degree murder charge. He was temporarily rehired by Mesa police last August as part of the settlement that allowed him to file for accidental disability retirement benefits.

The settlement also says Mesa will set aside up to $3 million for Brailsford to defend himself and pay lawsuit settlements related to the case, and that the city will give potential employers a "neutral reference" for him. He is ineligible to be hired again by Mesa.

Lauren is a mini-celebrity in the jam band world, I started a thread about this a little while ago

she's nuts and I have no doubt she was causing a ruckus, but what they did was wrong, and I hope she wins every penny

I still have issues with her carrying that beautiful golden retriever on her back to concerts and stuff, for the dog's sake, but I guess he's cool with it. and also wonder if the dog was on her back when they tried to ticket her for no leash

Canada has the ignorant cop problem too!

Two cops from Toronto got themselves in a batch of trouble on Sunday when they allegedly ate some marijuana edibles while on duty, got really stoned, and were forced to call for help.

The CBC reports that the two officers, who are part of 13 Division, have been suspended pending an investigation. Over the weekend, the Toronto police raided a pot dispensary, which is apparently where the cops copped the edibles.

FYI, folks: Ingesting marijuana is not the same as smoking or vaporizing marijuana. Eating pot will get you WAY more stoned. Professionals suggest waiting a solid two hours after ingesting edibles before taking more, because the onset of effects can be quite slow.

Apparently the cops didn't wait before eating more.

NewsTalk 1010 reports that when the two officers didn't feel the effects of the edibles right away, they ate some more. Eventually, the duo became so stoned that they were hallucinating, and one of them decided to call for backup. But when help arrived, pot paranoia kicked in, and "one of the impaired officers took off running."

To make matters worse, another officer responding to the calls for help slipped on ice and suffered a head injury. Ouch.

Does Canada play by these rules? Sept. 8, 2000
