We need a ...wall...where the border patrol and National Security people say it is needed. It is

AND once again (this has been posted any number of times): Trump was offered money for the wall at least THREE TIMES--by the Dems. He said no thanks. Trump and his GOP cult controlled this country for two years. Why didn't the GOP give him the money for the wall? They had the votes and did nothing to further the wall. In fact, the GOP knew (at that time) there was a possibility they would lose the House to Dems, but still did nothing *NOTHING* to further the wall. WHY?

If Trump wanted a "fence" (decorative steel slats) why didn't he say so? If Trump wanted PORTIONS of the wall built, why didn't he say so? If Trump did NOT want to employ Eminent Domain why didn't he say so?
Trump has never addressed these questions and many MANY OTHERS and neither has the GOP who supports him. WHY?

This issue is no longer JUST about the wall. It's about immigration. It's about fixing the broken system. It's about penalizing employers who hire illegals---such as TRUMP himself. It's about DACA. It's about native lands. It's about the environment. It's a complicated issue that Trump, in all his ignorance, has never really addressed....because he doesn't have the intelligence or foresight God gave a gnat.
the wall is stupid. the drug runners will do anything to sell there drugs. they will find another way to get across the border. like see you in about a year I am taking a boat trip. or whats going to stop drug
factorys.. somone once sead...a great army guards the palace. yet a small mouse can sneek in
the smallest crack or hole .. theres a million ways they can still get there drugs across the border.
and our tax money down the drain. line of sight by guards is the best way. at best the wall can
create new jobs.

Stupid has never been a contra-indication to a determined Right wing policy motivated by less than honorable motives. There are already certain high population areas where a wall or barrier is reasonable. Remote areas are monitored in other ways. As total solid barrier across remote areas has not part of any reasonable border plan in any country even between countries like East and West Germany.

Exactly right. We have so few details. WHY? AND if this fencing/wall is going to be constructed in the near future WHO is going to build it? Federal employees?? Nope--Not if they are shut down. I don't know much about building enormous steel fences but I'm betting they don't go up overnight. Has ANY preliminary work been approved?
In December Homeland Security officials stated they have plans to erect 215 miles of new AND replacement barrier fence.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection outlined how they would use the $5 billion if Congress allocated the money--which they didn't. Construction would be deployed first to the Texas' Rio Grande Valley, officials said.
BUT......to build new barriers, the federal government must first secure the land to build them on. Unlike other border states, most of the land along the Texas border is privately owned, and many landowners have been critical of the administration's plan to build barriers on their property. On the border in Texas, more than 5,000 property parcels sit within feet of the border, meaning far more private property would be required to extend the current fencing.

AND we're back to the beginning. No money. No land. No builders. Here's the latest model.

Public Law 109-367 has already taken care of the access for the wall.

The law says "fence".
The law also says that the barrier can be anything that will be effective in preventing illegal aliens, vehicles, narcotics, and other contraband from crossing the border. So we could put a mine field there instead if it would achieve the objective.

Yesterday a Mexican national was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents on Saturday with enough fentanyl to kill 57 million Americans. The shipment was referred to secondary, where an intensive examination revealed the contraband concealed within the trailer floor (of a pickup truck) at a Nogales border checkpoint. The truck trailer concealed the fentanyl which was covered by a load of cucumbers. Border Patrol was alerted after a drug DOG brought attention to the driver and truck. The truck also went through an x-ray scanner which showed the false floor. Nearly 650 pounds of illegal drugs were removed from the trailer in total.
The drugs, which also included almost 395 pounds of methamphetamine,

This is exactly why most Americans do not feel a wall is necessary.

Where is the right wing when you need them - as when government is taking your land?

Eminent domain, the big-government tactic Trump needs to use to build the wall, explained

The practical realities of building new physical barriers along the US-Mexico border are bringing two cherished conservative principles into conflict — loyalty to Donald Trump and the sanctity of private property. ...

... Republicans and Trump have argued that eminent domain gives them the power to do it. Eminent domain is invoked when the government takes possession of private land for public use — and conservatives despise it.

But Trump has long supported the use of eminent domain, using it when he was working in real estate and defending the concept during the 2016 presidential campaign. He argues that it will prove essential in getting a border wall built. “You have to use eminent domain,” Trump said during a Rose Garden briefing. “If we had one person that wouldn’t sell us ... then we wouldn’t be able to build proper border security because we’d have that big opening.”

AND this is just ONE more reason why the "WALL" will not be built. Trump is running out of time and Eminent Domain (depending on the state and circumstances) is a LONG process. If the landowners refuse to sell the process goes to court. Most often an eminent domain trial is set for trial within 12 to 18 months following the filing of the complaint.
Trump has two years left in office with no guarantee of winning a second term or even RUNNING a second time. Walls don't get built overnight and so far Trump has NO money. No land. No support. Tick tock.
