What IS so wrong with the USA...?
The number one problem is overpopulation. Take care of that and a lot of our problems become much more manageable.
Let's create generations of Americans who are less sharing, have less energy [obese], drug addled, no time to spare, less patience, lacking money and no desire to raise large families..[or any kids at all] and within the next 100 years we might see a very welcome reduction.
Since I was born the USA population has more than doubled and our quality of life / standard of living has suffered in many ways. Those who are recently born into this mess have no point of reference to appreciate a time before so many people find themselves living like canned sardines in their 300 unit apartments and on the highways bumper to bumper every day.
  • U.S. population at the beginning of 2019 was over 328 million.1
  • U.S. population is growing by over 2,000,000 people per year -- that's 240 per hour -- about half from new births and half from immigration.1
  • According to Global Footprint Network data, the U.S. can sustain a population of only about 150 million at a reduced consumption level similar to Europeans.
The U.S. Population Situation
I stopped the quote there to avoid killing the point with too much verbiage. If we can sustain a population of 150 million but have a growing population of 328 million, what does this mean for the future of our quality of life?

Of course, if all the undeserving people would only work harder and put in the effort to get richer that would resolve any problems we have, right? High schools are still graduating students who have no clue about this population problem and why they might want to avoid having large families.

I'll wager 150MM was where we stood during WWII...?
Another thing.......
I don't care where they are from...I do not want to see people from other countries allowed to enter the USA. ...but especially not those who are part of the Democrats Loyal For Life Voter Breeding Program.

Even a notorious pimp was inspired to associate himself with the head of state by calling himself “The Trump of Pahrump”, and got elected to Nevada’s state assembly after death. What has gone wrong with American democracy? What urgent actions should be taken to rectify the flaws and improve the democratic system?

Nevada ruled from the grave
Multinational corporations, subsidized billionaires, and the legal system of criminals that protect them.

Trump World! Where the circus is always in town.
What has gone wrong with American democracy?
Minority rule.

We have to put an end to the electoral college.
Bush Jr ushered in the crazies and now Trump who has them out shoots at others.

Its not minority rule. You would have to have a total lack of understanding of the checks and balances or a real I cant win so lets change the rules mentality to come up with that. If it was minority rule California would not have more House delegates/electoral votes than every other state.

It seems to me that voting for POTUS could be as simple and secure as our system that processes a billion dollars worth of credit card transactions every day.

Dude, it is minority rule.

I have been against the electoral college since long before I ever heard the name Bush or Trump.
I recall in grammar school also thinking what a waste of resources and alienating concept sates right were.
Two Senators from each state regardless of population? More crap I have been against since the day I understood the retarded system.

All tehse things were designed to get money and power in the hands of those that already had it and it has worked. Not good for the masses.

But do carry on with your Trump mania.

Then what you advocate for is ending the Republic and having a Democracy rule. Those thing were not designed to do any such thing as you describe. No matter how much you want to believe that it is just the opposite. States rights I assume you mean. To have one central government deciding a one size fits all approach to a nation as large in area, as diverse in culture and as spread out as we are is insanity. Our founding fathers got the checks and balances system right and states rights as well. You are entitled to your backwards opinion. I just do not have to agree with it.
