It is pretty easy for a country to play kumbaya socialism when the US spends close to $1 trillion per year so these countries do not end up speaking Russian, Chinese, etc.

Lol, you mean china will invade Europe :)
Don't they have to go through Russia to do that?

:D:D

But seriously, from the european perspective the US spending doesn't mean squat. The US is actively working against european security by inciting wars in the middle east. The migrant crisis in Europe is a direct consequence of the US wars. The biggest numbers of migrants are from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. Precisely the countries the US has occupied.

As for Russia, the EU is their biggest market, why would they destroy that? By installing US troops and missiles in Europe the US is actually trying to point the russian missiles in Europe's direction instead of having them all at the US. Again actively endangering european security. The europeans wish the US would start spending less on war, trust me.

You're being incredibly naive if you think "death of a breadwinner" is what drives the welfare roll.
do you know who invented the modern welfare state and why? and how it still exists almost in the same form 140 years after it inception in a very very propsrous and dynamic nation? i under stand it because i understand who the minds of my tribe works.. we llok out for each other always have

I agree. A system that cannot (or will not) defend itself is difficult to take seriously.

Though you have to admit, there is a wonderful irony in that so many of these states themselves exist in a state of dependency.

Just how or why do you consider that rambling sentiment an effective defense of the modern, ever expansive welfare state?

i've been home in paris on bastille day the military parade is fucking intimidating, trump thought so was way impressed the french military is awesome
So now you're taking your cues from Donald Trump?

The French military has been a farce for most of the last 100 years. The Germans went through them like a hot knife through butter in 1940. They bet all on a military fortification (ironically a great wall) well suited for the previous war. They were completely unprepared for the German flaking maneuver, their command structure fell apart, and they surrendered with millions of men still in arms. They've been a paper tigre ever since, and the only reason the first language of their easter provinces isn't Russian is NATO.

Don't be impressed by parades, son.
