You seem to have an obsession with that. Are you sure that a forum is the proper place to discussion your obsession on such a topic? At least 5 wars in America were fought over slavery by the 1860s.

The Revolutionary War was fought so that the slavers could keep their slaves because they were fearful that the British were going to end slavery in all of their colonies.

The War of 1812 was fought to keep the British from freeing the slaves.

The Seminole Indian war in Florida was fought because the Spanish wouldn't return escape slaves.

The Texas War was fought because slavery had been abolished in Mexico and the Texas slavers wanted to keep their slaves.

The Mexican-American War was fought as a land grab to take the sparsely-settled territories controlled by Mexico west of Texas so that the slavers could expand slavery.

The Civil War was fought because the slavers wanted to expand slavery into the western territories and import more slaves but the Union wanted the land for free white men so it passed the Homestead act which limited the amount of land a person could control. So the slavers couldn't grab large tracts for slave plantations.
You seem to have an obsession with posting riduculous personal opinions and trying to make it sound as if they were facts.Bull-fucking-shit is a perfectly suitable response to such crap.

There is nothing in Lazareth's poem regarding the US and immigration.

Einstein was already in the US.
Why do people insist on lying on this so easily disproved?

The Statue of Liberty was dedicated by president and former NY Governor Glover Cleveland in 1886. Albert Einstein surrendered his German citizenship in 1933 as a WWII refugee and didn't become a US Citizen until 1940.

I mean... why lie?

There is nothing in Lazareth's poem regarding the US and immigration. The poem regarded Russian refugees and has no connection with the US. The Statue of Liberty was originally created as a lighthouse for Egypt, not as a symbol of immigration in the US.

Einstein was in the US teaching at California Institute of Technology when Hitler came into power in 1933, and never went back to Germany.

A petition posted to the White House “We the People” website demands that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., be removed from office for treason over her refusal to provide the necessary security on the southern border.

The petition, which can be seen here, demands: “Impeach Nancy Pelosi for crimes of Treason!”

The petition reads:

Nancy Pelosi is a traitor to the American People!

The Constitution defines, “Treason against the US.. ..adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.” Illegal aliens are enemies that invade our country with drugs, human trafficking, and terrorist causing death and crime to American citizens. Nancy Pelosi adheres to these enemies by voting for and providing them aid and comfort through Sanctuary policies funded by US citizen tax dollars, and refuses to protect American people by refusing to fund our border wall, leaving our borders open and unsafe. Pelosi refused to meet with Angel families, caused the government shut down then traveled on US dollars to Hawaii and Puerto Rico while 800,000 Fed workers don’t get paid, and uninvited Trump for SOTU. IMPEACH Pelosi for treason!

Impeachment of a member of Congress is generally not done, and from what we can tell, only one legislator, William Blount, a U.S. senator from Tennessee, was impeached on July 7, 1797, on “charges of conspiring to assist in Great Britain’s attempt to seize Spanish-controlled territories in modern-day Florida and Louisiana.”

Members of Congress, however, can be expelled, censured or reprimanded. According to the House History, Art and Archives site:

Expulsion has traditionally been reserved as punishment for only the most reprehensible conduct or crimes such as treasonous acts against the government. The first three individuals expelled from the House—Missourians John B. Clark and John W. Reid, and Henry C. Burnett of Kentucky—took up arms for the Confederacy during the Civil War. In the modern era, expulsion has been used on two other occasions, both of which involved egregious violations of criminal law and/or flagrant abuses of office.

While Pelosi might not ever face impeachment as Speaker of the House, she could, at least in theory, face expulsion, reprimand or censure.

As of this writing, over 84,000 people have signed the petition. A little more than 16,000 signatures are required by February 17 to trigger a response from the White House.

What bull shit! We need to share Reagan's words across our land and fight back against the insanity that has taken a hold of our nation. I don't like a lot of things Reagan did, but he did represent our national values well and building walls between nations is not a national value. We had open borders with Canada and Mexico and could commute freely between countries with no passport required. Then came 9/11 and we went insane taking greater steps to being what we defended our democracy against.

When I attended public school in Texas, we studied Texas history in 4thl, 7th, and 10th grade. Slavery was an element of the Texas Revolution, but to say the war was fought because slavery had been abolished in Mexico is not true.
That's the problem, you attended Texas schools.

The Revolutionary War was fought so that the slavers could keep their slaves because they were fearful that the British were going to end slavery in all of their colonies.
Slavery in the British Empire didn’t end until 1833, there were no serious moves to end slavery in the British Empire in the 1770’s
The War of 1812 was fought to keep the British from freeing the slaves.
The USA declared war on Britain due to maritime disputes and a land grab for Canada.
The British had no interest in freeing US slaves before the war.

Please, try to stifle your elitism.

The year I graduated, 1967, my Houston, Texas high school's SAT score average was second-highest in the nation. I never had a prof tougher than my high school physics teacher.

Well I must say, you know as much about the Statue of Liberty as you do about the constitution, which is to say, not a whole lot.

Emma Lazarus wrote the poem "The New Colossus" about the Statue of Liberty. Lazarus was asked to produce a poem for the to raise funds for the pedestal, originally she refused, but was convinced that the statue would have a great effect on immigrants entering New York Harbor.

The original Bartholdi design was produced for a lighthouse at the entrance of the Suez Canal, but that was rejected, the design was reworked and submitted to France for the Statue of Liberty, being produced as a gift to the United States.

I suggest you read and study American history if you want to discuss it.

"The First Seminole War (1817–18) began over attempts by U.S. authorities to recapture runaway black slaves living among Seminole bands. Under General Andrew Jackson, U.S. military forces invaded the area, scattering the villagers, burning their towns, and seizing Spanish-held Pensacola and St. Marks. As a result, in 1819 Spain was induced to cede its Florida territory under the terms of the Transcontinental Treaty. "
Seminole Wars | United States history

The slavers like Washington & Jefferson were afraid of losing their slaves so they started the war to keep them. And when they won they made slavery the law of the land and took over the national government for decades.

Fighting... Maybe for Freedom, but probably not

1811 German Coast uprising
This wasn't a war but denial of freedom.

Since the Texans had been successful in stealing Texas from the Mexicans so that they could keep their slaves they wanted to take the rest of the Mexican territory all the way to California for slave lands. So they started the Mexican-American War.

"The question of how to treat the new acquisitions also intensified the debate over slavery."
Mexican–American War - Wikipedia

And of course the Civil War. It wasn't fought for freedom other than the slavers wanted the freedom to expand slavery while the Union wanted the slavers to be content to stay in their slave States.

While that may be generally true it's obvious that your sainted high school physics teacher didn't teach you squat about Texas history.
